Driving

From Ottawa, Illinois, take IL-71 W. Continue on IL-71 W until you reach Starved Rock State Park. Follow park signs to the easternmost parking area, specifically designated for Ottawa, Kaskaskia, and Illinois Canyons. Parking is free. From the parking lot, follow the marked trail leading to Illinois Canyon.

From the Starved Rock Visitor Center, follow the trail system east towards Ottawa and Kaskaskia Canyons. Continue past those canyons until you reach Illinois Canyon, the easternmost canyon in the park. The walk is approximately 3 miles and will take you through varied terrain.
