Lyons Woods Forest Preserve, a 345-acre gem in Waukegan, Illinois, offers a diverse landscape and a rich history. Named after Isaac Reed Lyons, an early settler from Massachusetts, the land has transformed over the years, from farmland to a haven for nature lovers.The preserve features 2.5 miles of gravel trails that wind through contrasting terrains, including pine groves, prairies, and oak woodlands. These trails connect to the McClory Trail, a regional path, and the Lyons Woods to Waukegan Savanna Trail, offering access to local parks and communities.
