From the intersection of Madison Street and Pershing Road, head east on Madison Street towards the harbor. Continue until you reach the end of Madison Street, where Government Pier begins. Walk along Government Pier to reach the Waukegan Harbor Light. The walk is approximately 0.5 miles and offers scenic views of the harbor and Lake Michigan.

The Waukegan Metra station is located within walking distance of the harbor. From the station, walk east towards the lakefront and follow signs for Waukegan Harbor. From the Metra station, it is about a 15-20 minute walk to the lighthouse.

Parking fees range from $5 - $10 per day. Be aware of signs indicating "Harbor Authority Only". An extra parking key can cost $75 per season.
