Walking
From downtown Waukegan, the beach is a pleasant walk. Head east towards the lakefront. You'll find the beach just beyond the Waukegan Harbor and Marina. The walk is approximately 1 mile and should take about 20 minutes.

Public Transport
The Metra Union Pacific North Line stops at Waukegan. From the Waukegan Metra station, the beach is about a 15-20 minute walk east. Alternatively, you can catch a Pace bus from the station towards the lakefront; routes and schedules can be obtained by calling 847-662-1220. A single ride on Pace costs $1.75.

Driving
From I-94, exit east onto Grand Avenue (IL-132). Continue east until you reach the lakefront. Turn north onto Sea Horse Drive. The beach parking lots will be on your left. During the summer season (Saturday before Memorial Day through Labor Day), parking fees are collected on Saturdays, Sundays, and federal holidays for vehicles without a Waukegan city sticker. Daily parking permits cost $20, and $30 on the four official summer holidays (Memorial Day, Juneteenth, Fourth of July, and Labor Day).
