Getting there

Car

If you are driving from the center of Alleppey, head southeast on NH66. Continue for about 4 km until you reach a roundabout. Take the second exit onto Punnamada Road, heading towards Punnamada Lake. Follow Punnamada Road for approximately 2 km, and you will find the Backwaters area located near G9F4+GXF, Punnamada, Alappuzha, Kerala 688006. There is parking available nearby, but note that there may be a small fee for parking.

Auto Rickshaw

For a more local experience, you can hire an auto rickshaw from anywhere in Alleppey. Simply tell the driver 'Punnamada Backwaters' or show them the location G9F4+GXF on your smartphone. The fare should be around ₹100-₹150 depending on your starting point. The journey will take approximately 15-20 minutes.

Public Bus

You can take a local bus from Alleppey Bus Stand to Punnamada. Look for buses heading towards Punnamada or the ones that indicate stops near the backwaters. The fare is typically ₹10-₹20. Once you get off at the nearest stop, you may need to walk approximately 1 km to reach the Backwaters. Make sure to ask locals for directions if needed.

Bicycle Rental

If you prefer a more active approach, consider renting a bicycle from one of the local shops in Alleppey. From the town center, head towards NH66 and then follow the instructions for driving by car, as the route is the same. This option will allow you to enjoy the scenery at a leisurely pace.
