The Punjab State War Heroes' Memorial & Museum, located on the outskirts of Amritsar, stands as a solemn tribute to the valor and sacrifice of Punjab's soldiers. Inaugurated in October 2016, the museum showcases Punjab's martial traditions and military campaigns from the era of the sixth Sikh Guru to post-independence wars. The museum's architecture blends traditional and modern styles, with a 45-meter high stainless steel sword symbolizing the courage of the Punjabi people. The memorial houses nine galleries displaying artifacts, weapons, photographs, and interactive panels. Exhibits include a MiG-23 fighter aircraft, a model of the INS Vikrant, and captured Pakistani tanks. Visitors can also experience a 7D auditorium that recreates war zones and a light and sound show. Names of nearly 3,500 martyrs are inscribed on the memorial. The museum also features a mural commemorating the 21 Sikh soldiers martyred in the 1971 war. The museum is located approximately 10 km from Amritsar and 18 km from the India-Pakistan border. It is a popular tourist destination, especially for those visiting the Wagah border ceremony.
