The Lingaraj Temple, dating back to the 11th century, is Bhubaneswar's largest and most prominent temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva. The temple is not only a significant religious site but also an architectural marvel, showcasing the quintessence of Kalinga architecture. The temple's origins are linked to King Jajati Keshari, who shifted his capital to Bhubaneswar, though some evidence suggests parts of the temple existed as early as the 6th century CE.The temple complex comprises four main components: the vimana (sanctum), jagamohana (assembly hall), natamandira (festival hall), and bhoga-mandapa (hall of offerings). The central tower, rising to a height of 180 feet (55 meters), is an imposing structure adorned with detailed carvings and sculptures.
