Discover more about Siddheswar Temple

Siddheswar Temple, situated in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, is a revered Hindu shrine dedicated to Lord Shiva. The temple, dating back to the 11th century during the Ganga dynasty, exemplifies the Kalinga style of architecture with its detailed carvings and elegant design. The temple is known for its serene atmosphere and religious importance, attracting devotees and tourists alike. The temple's architecture features a sandstone construction with a vimana (tower) and spire. The entrance is adorned with sculptures of Hindu deities, and the inner sanctum houses a Shiva lingam. The temple's tower is built in the Pancharatna style, grouped by miniature turrets and lions on all four sides. While not as ornate as the nearby Mukteswar Temple, it possesses its own unique charm. Legend says that when Lord Vishnu and other Gods visited Ekamra Kshetra, they commanded the architect Vishwakarma to build temples and ponds. Pleased with this, Lord Shiva named Vishnu as Siddha and himself as Siddhadata, thus the Lingam is called Siddheswara. Today, the temple provides a tranquil space for prayer and reflection amidst Bhubaneswar's bustling environment.
