Bhimkund, located in the Chhatarpur district of Madhya Pradesh, is an awe-inspiring natural wonder steeped in mythology. The kund, also known as Neelkund, is a natural water tank and a holy place. It is situated near Bajna village in the Bundelkhand region. The serene beauty and cultural relevance of Bhimkund make it a must-visit destination.According to legend, during their exile, Draupadi fainted from thirst. Bhima, one of the Pandava brothers from the epic Mahabharata, struck the ground with his mace (gada) to create a water source, and the kund was formed. Another legend says that the Vedic sage Narada sang the Gandharva Gaanam in praise of Lord Vishnu. Pleased with his devotion, Vishnu emerged from the kund, turning the water blue. The depth of Bhimkund remains a mystery. Some believe that it is connected to the sea and is a dormant volcano.The water in Bhimkund is crystal clear with a deep indigo blue hue. The kund lies in a cave, approximately 3 meters from the mouth, and to the left of the entrance is a small Shivalinga. Visitors can explore the surrounding Bajna forest, home to diverse wildlife, and trek to the Bhimadevi temple or the temples of Lord Hanuman and Lord Shiva.
