Discover more about Kanha Jungle Lodge

Kanha Jungle Lodge provides a unique opportunity to experience the untamed beauty of Kanha National Park, one of India's premier tiger reserves. Established in 1989 by Pradeep Sankhala, son of renowned tiger conservationist Kailash Sankhala, the lodge pioneered the ecotourism movement in the area. The Sankhala family's legacy is deeply intertwined with tiger conservation in India, dating back to the 1960s when Kailash Sankhala raised concerns about tiger hunting. The lodge is situated close to the Mukki gate, about half a kilometer away, in a thick Sal forest. The design minimizes environmental impact and operates on eco-friendly principles. Kanha Jungle Lodge offers 18 spacious rooms and two deluxe cottages with private patios overlooking the Sal forest. Guests can enjoy comfortable accommodations, delicious meals made with locally sourced ingredients, and the expertise of resident naturalists. The lodge promotes responsible tourism by collaborating with local communities and encouraging local enterprise. Kanha National Park is known for its tiger safaris and diverse wildlife, including leopards, sloth bears, barasingha (swamp deer), and wild dogs. The park is divided into four zones: Mukki, Kisli, Sarhi, and Kanha, each offering unique landscapes and wildlife sightings. Visitors can explore the park through jeep safaris, elephant rides, and nature walks. The best time to visit is during the winter season (October to February) for pleasant weather or the summer season (March to June) for increased chances of spotting tigers near waterholes.
