    Discover more about Gangtok

Sikkim, meaning "new house", is a captivating state in northeastern India, renowned for its breathtaking beauty and cultural richness. Once an independent Buddhist kingdom ruled by the Namgyal dynasty, Sikkim became India's 22nd state in 1975, peacefully merging its unique heritage with the Indian Union. Gangtok, the capital city, serves as the perfect gateway to explore Sikkim's wonders. The city offers panoramic views of the Kanchenjunga range, the world's third-highest peak, and is a vibrant hub where tradition meets modernity. MG Marg, a pedestrian-only street, is the heart of Gangtok, offering a delightful experience with its shops and eateries. Sikkim's culture is a beautiful amalgamation of traditions from its three major tribes: the Lepchas, Bhutias, and Nepalese. The Lepchas, the original inhabitants, revere nature, while the Bhutias introduced Tibetan Buddhism, shaping the region's spiritual landscape. The Nepalese, now the majority, have enriched Sikkim with their language and Hindu traditions. This blend is evident in the monasteries, festivals, and dances that adorn the state. Beyond Gangtok, Sikkim unfolds with diverse landscapes and attractions. Tsomgo Lake, a glacial marvel, and Nathula Pass, a historic mountain pass, offer stunning vistas. Pelling, in West Sikkim, provides serene retreats and mesmerizing views of the Himalayas. In South Sikkim, Namchi and Ravangla entice with their spiritual ambiance and scenic beauty. North Sikkim is home to Lachen, Lachung, and Yumthang Valley, known for their alpine beauty and rhododendron blooms. Whether you seek adventure, spiritual solace, or natural splendor, Sikkim offers a soul-refreshing escape. With its clean air, eco-friendly practices, and warm hospitality, Sikkim invites you to discover its Himalayan haven.
