Srijani Shilpagram, a cultural village in Santiniketan, Birbhum district, West Bengal, serves as a hub for preserving and promoting the art forms of Eastern India. Established by the West Bengal government in 2008, this 26-bigha complex (approximately 15 acres) is home to nine museums, each shaped like a traditional hut representing a state of the Eastern Zonal Cultural Centre (EZCC). These states include Assam, Bihar, Jharkhand, Manipur, Odisha, Sikkim, Tripura, West Bengal, and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Inside these huts, visitors can discover over 1,000 artifacts that are over 25 years old, providing a realistic glimpse into the culture of each state. The huts are constructed using mud, wood, and straw, giving them a rustic and authentic feel. The displays include art pieces hung on the walls, showcasing the diverse artistic traditions of the region. The complex also features an art gallery named 'Adi Bimb' that displays folk paintings. Beyond the state huts, Srijani Shilpagram features open-air displays of sculptures made from clay and other materials, often depicting scenes from mythology or tribal life. Statues of freedom fighters from tribal communities can also be found. The village strives to create a serene and engaging environment, with well-maintained gardens, a fresh pond, and small streams enhancing the natural beauty of the surroundings. Visitors may also encounter Baul singers performing traditional folk music.
