The Archaeological Museum of Goa, established in 1964 by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), is a treasure trove of Goan history, housed within the historic Convent of St. Francis of Assisi in Old Goa. The museum's eight galleries present a diverse collection of artifacts, offering insights into the region's rich cultural heritage from prehistoric times through the Portuguese colonial era.Visitors are greeted by a bronze statue of Afonso de Albuquerque, a key figure in Portuguese colonial history. The galleries showcase a range of artifacts, including prehistoric tools and pottery, Hindu and Jain sculptures, Christian art, coins, and weapons.
