Raj Bhavan: Goa's Historic Governor's Residence

Raj Bhavan, also known as Cabo Raj Niwas, is the official residence of the Governor of Goa, situated on a narrow cape in Dona Paula. This historic palace, originally named "Palácio do Cabo," was constructed between the 16th and 17th centuries during Portuguese rule. It served as a strategic fort guarding the Mandovi and Zuari rivers. The palace boasts a blend of Portuguese and Goan architectural styles and houses a collection of antique artifacts, including Bohemian glass chandeliers and Chinese porcelain. The 88-acre estate features lush gardens, offering panoramic views of the Arabian Sea. Key attractions within the Raj Bhavan complex include Our Lady of the Cape Church, a 500-year-old chapel, and a grotto dedicated to St. Paula.
