Built in the 15th century by Raja Man Singh Tomar for his beloved queen, Mrignayani, a Gujar princess, the palace stands as a symbol of their unique love story. According to the tale, Mrignayani, a strong and independent woman, requested a separate palace with a constant water supply from the Rai River. The museum was established in 1922 and houses a diverse collection of artifacts, including sculptures, terracotta figurines, coins, inscriptions, and weapons. The collection spans centuries, offering insights into the region's history and cultural heritage. Highlights include a miniature of the famed Shal Bhanjika and replicas of mural paintings from the Bagh caves. The museum also boasts over 60 stone and copper plate inscriptions in various scripts and a diverse collection of coins dating from the 3rd century BC to the 20th century AD. Gujari Mahal itself is an example of Rajput architecture, featuring carved pillars, sandstone walls, and balconies. Though parts of the palace are now in ruins, the remaining sections have been preserved to showcase the palace's original splendor.
