After passing Anantnag, continue on NH44 until you reach the town of Awantipora. From Awantipora, turn onto the Pahalgam road and continue straight until you reach Pahalgam. Once in Pahalgam, follow the signs towards the Aru Valley. After that, you will need to head towards the border crossing into Azad Jammu and Kashmir. Reach Mangla Fort by following the local signage to Mangla Hamlet, which is approximately an hour's drive from Pahalgam. Ensure you have your travel documents ready for border crossing. Please note that you may need to pay a toll fee of approximately ₹100-₹200 when using the highways.
Public Transportation
For those using public transportation, take a bus from Srinagar to Anantnag, which costs around ₹100. From Anantnag, you can catch another bus heading towards Pahalgam, which will cost approximately ₹60. Once in Pahalgam, you can hire a taxi or use local transport to get to Mangla Fort, which is about 26 km away. The taxi fare should be around ₹500-₹700. Be prepared for a longer journey as public transportation may take several hours due to waiting times and road conditions.
