Doddabetta Peak, meaning 'Big Mountain' in the local Badugu language, is the highest point in the Nilgiri Hills, soaring to 2,637 meters (8,652 feet). Situated 9 km from Ooty on the Ooty-Kotagiri Road, it marks the meeting point of the Western and Eastern Ghats. The peak offers stunning 360-degree views of the Nilgiri landscape, including valleys, forests, and distant plains; on a clear day, you might even spot Coimbatore and Mysore.The slopes are covered in dense shola thickets, rhododendron trees, and a variety of herbs.
