From Kochi, head to the nearest bus station, which is the Ernakulam South Bus Stand. Catch a bus heading towards Alappuzha. The journey will take approximately 1.5 to 2 hours. Make sure to inform the conductor that you want to get off at Alappuzha. Once you arrive at the Alappuzha bus station, you can walk to the town center or take a local auto-rickshaw to your destination.
Train
Make your way to Ernakulam Junction Railway Station. Purchase a ticket for a train to Alappuzha (the train may be listed as Alleppey). The train ride takes about 1 hour. Once you reach Alappuzha Railway Station, take a local auto-rickshaw or a taxi to your final destination, as the station is about 4 km from the town center.
Ferry
If you are close to the waterfront, consider taking a ferry from Kochi to Alappuzha. Head to the Kochi Water Metro terminal (like Vypin or Fort Kochi) and inquire about ferry schedules to Alappuzha. The ferry ride offers stunning views of the backwaters and takes around 2 to 3 hours. Upon arrival at Alappuzha, you can explore the area on foot or hire a local auto-rickshaw.
Auto-rickshaw
If you are in Kochi, you can hire an auto-rickshaw for a direct ride to Alappuzha. However, this option is more expensive and may take around 1.5 to 2 hours depending on traffic. The driver will take you through the scenic routes, but it’s advisable to agree on a fare before starting your journey.
