If you are driving from Mumbai, take the NH 48 towards Pune. After reaching Khopoli, follow the signs to Matheran and take the road towards Matheran. Note that Matheran is a vehicle-free hill station, so park your car at the designated parking area at Dasturi Naka, where you will need to pay a parking fee (approximately ₹50-₹100). From Dasturi Naka, you can either walk to Charlotte Lakes Overwater, which is about a 30-minute trek, or hire a horse or a hand-pulled rickshaw, which will cost you around ₹300-₹500 depending on your negotiation.

Public Transportation
You can take a train from Mumbai to Neral, which is the nearest railway station to Matheran. From Neral, board the Matheran toy train, which is a scenic ride that will take you to Matheran (approximately ₹100-₹200 for a ticket). Upon reaching Matheran, you can walk to Charlotte Lakes Overwater, which is about a 20-minute walk from the station. Alternatively, you can hire a horse or a hand-pulled rickshaw from the market area.
