Getting There

• Car

  To reach the Khardungla Pass top sign post by car, start your journey from Leh, the capital of Ladakh. The distance is approximately 39 kilometers and the drive will take around 1.5 to 2 hours depending on road conditions. From Leh, head towards Khardung La Road (NH-1) and follow the signs. Be cautious of the altitude as you ascend, which can reach over 5,600 meters at the pass. Ensure your vehicle is in good condition and carry extra fuel, as there are limited petrol stations along the route. There is no entry fee for vehicles to reach the pass.

  If you prefer public transportation, you can take shared taxis or local buses from Leh to Khardung La. Shared taxis can be found at the taxi stand in Leh and are a common choice among tourists. The fare is generally around INR 1,000-1,500 per person. Be sure to confirm with the driver that they will take you to the Khardungla Pass top sign post. The journey will take approximately 2 hours.   For adventure enthusiasts, renting a motorbike is a popular option to reach Khardungla. Follow the same route as cars, and be prepared for challenging road conditions, especially in the higher altitudes. Motorbike riders must also be cautious about altitude sickness and should acclimatize properly before the journey.
