If you're traveling by car, start your journey from Guwahati, the largest city in Assam. Take National Highway 27 (NH27) towards Tezpur. The distance is approximately 180 km and will take around 4-5 hours. From Tezpur, head east towards the border town of Sonitpur, and take the road towards Bhalukpong. Continue on this road until you reach the Arunachal Pradesh border. After crossing the border, follow the road towards Tawang. Lake of No Return is located near the Indo-China border, approximately 40 km from Tawang. You will need to take a local guide or hire a vehicle from Tawang to reach the lake, as the roads can be rough and require local knowledge.

To reach Lake of No Return using public transportation, start from Guwahati and take a bus to Tezpur. Buses depart regularly throughout the day and the fare is around INR 300-500. From Tezpur, take a shared jeep or taxi to Bhalukpong, which will cost about INR 150-200. Continue from Bhalukpong to Tawang by taking a bus or shared taxi. This leg of the journey can take up to 10 hours, and fares range from INR 600-1000. Once in Tawang, hire a local taxi to take you to Lake of No Return, which is about 40 km away, costing approximately INR 3000-4000 for a round trip. Ensure to negotiate the fare and confirm the driver's familiarity with the area.
