Getting There

• Walking

  If you are in the central area of Pondicherry, start at the famous Gandhi Beach. Head southeast along the coast towards the seafront promenade. Continue walking along the promenade until you reach the end of the beach. From there, turn left onto Rue de la Marine and walk straight until you reach the intersection with Rue de l'Ancien Hôtel de Ville. Take a right at this intersection. Continue walking straight for about 1 kilometer, and you will see Uppalam Harbour Beach on your left. The beach is located at the address WR4H+WW4, Puducherry, 605004.

• Bicycle

  For those who prefer cycling, rent a bicycle from one of the local shops in the city center. Start your ride from the Aurobindo Ashram area and head towards the seafront. Take the coastal road along the promenade, which is scenic and mostly flat. Ride straight along the coast until you reach the end of the promenade, then turn left onto Rue de la Marine. Continue straight until you hit Rue de l'Ancien Hôtel de Ville, then turn right. Cycle for about 1 kilometer, and Uppalam Harbour Beach will be on your left. Look for the WR4H+WW4 marker to find the entrance.

• Public Transport

  To reach Uppalam Harbour Beach via public transport, take a local bus from the main bus stand in Pondicherry. Look for buses heading towards the Uppalam area. Ask the bus driver to drop you off at the nearest stop to Uppalam Harbour. Once you get off, walk towards the coast by following the signs or asking locals for directions. You will be walking approximately 500 meters to reach the beach at WR4H+WW4, Puducherry, 605004.
