Walking
If you are in the downtown area of Gary, begin your journey by walking east on 5th Avenue towards Broadway. Once you reach Broadway, turn left and head north. Continue on Broadway until you reach 15th Avenue. At this point, turn right onto 15th Avenue and proceed until you reach the intersection with Lake Street. Turn left onto Lake Street and walk towards the lakefront. Follow Lake Street as it curves around and turns into Miller Beach. Stay on this path until you see the Southernmost Point of Lake Michigan Information Marker located near the beach area, marked by its distinctive signage.

Biking
Starting from the Gary Public Library, head south on Grant Street until you reach 5th Avenue. Turn left onto 5th Avenue and continue east until you reach Broadway. Turn left on Broadway and head north until you get to 15th Avenue. Make a right on 15th Avenue and bike until you reach Lake Street. Turn left on Lake Street and continue until you reach Miller Beach, where the Southernmost Point of Lake Michigan Information Marker is located. This route is approximately 4 miles and mostly along city streets.

From the Gary Metro Center, take the Gary Public Transit Corporation bus line 10 towards Miller Beach. Stay on the bus for about 30 minutes, and get off at the stop near Lake Street and 15th Avenue.
