From Indiana Dunes National Park, head northwest on IN-49 N. Continue on IN-49 N for approximately 10 miles until you reach the intersection with US-6. Turn right onto US-6 E, then take a left onto Portage Ave. Follow Portage Ave for about 1 mile, then take a left onto E 8th St. Continue straight for about half a mile, and you will see the Portage Diamond Railroad Crossing on your right. There is no entrance fee to view the crossing, but ensure you park safely along the road.
