Getting There

  • Car

    From the Indiana Dunes National Park, head south on IN-49. Continue for about 5 miles until you reach the intersection with US-6. Turn left onto US-6 (also known as W. 6th Ave) and continue for approximately 3 miles. Follow the signs for Portage, and you will eventually reach Riverwalk Dr. Turn right onto Riverwalk Dr and continue until you see the entrance to Portage Lakefront & Riverwalk on your right. There is free parking available at the site.

  • Public Transportation

    If you prefer public transportation, first take the South Shore Line train from the Dune Park station located within Indiana Dunes National Park. Purchase a ticket to the Portage/Ogden Dunes station. The fare is approximately $5. After arriving at the Portage station, you can take a taxi or rideshare service to Portage Lakefront & Riverwalk, which is about a 10-minute drive (approximately 5 miles). Alternatively, check for local bus services that may operate in the area.
