Bus
From downtown Indianapolis, walk to the nearest bus stop on Washington Street. Take the Indianapolis Public Transportation Corporation (IndyGo) Bus number 10 towards East 10th Street. Stay on the bus for approximately 25 minutes. Get off at the stop near the intersection of East 10th Street and North Emerson Avenue. From there, transfer to Bus number 21 heading towards East 34th Street. Ride for about 15 minutes and get off at the stop closest to East University Avenue. Walk southeast on East University Avenue for about 5 minutes until you reach the Irvington Historical Society, Bona Thompson Center at 5350 E University Ave.

If you prefer biking, you can rent a bike from one of the many bike-sharing stations in downtown Indianapolis. Head east on Washington Street towards the Cultural Trail. Follow the Cultural Trail until you reach the intersection with East 10th Street. Turn right onto East 10th Street and continue heading east for about 3 miles. After crossing North Emerson Avenue, continue on East 10th Street until you reach East University Avenue. Turn left onto East University Avenue and ride for another 1 mile. The Irvington Historical Society, Bona Thompson Center will be on your right at 5350 E University Ave.
