If you're traveling by car, start from the center of The Dunes. Head north on Dune Acres Rd toward US-12. Turn right onto US-12 E and continue for about 5 miles. Take the exit onto I-94 E toward Detroit. After approximately 10 miles, take exit 30 for I-196 S toward Benton Harbor. Continue on I-196 S for about 12 miles, then take exit 1 for M-63 S toward St. Joseph. Follow M-63 S for about 5 miles until you reach Thornton Dr. Turn left onto Thornton Dr, and the entrance to Grand Mere State Park will be on your left. The total drive should take around 30-40 minutes, depending on traffic. Parking at the park is typically free.
