Start from Ubud, where you can find a public bus heading towards Bangli. You can take the Perama Bus from Ubud to Bangli, which takes about an hour. Once you arrive in Bangli, you can take a local bemo (shared minibus) to Kintamani, which is the closest town to Batur Mountain. The bemo ride will take approximately 30 minutes. Ask the driver to drop you off at the main entrance to Batur Mountain, where you can start your hike.

Bicycle
If you prefer a more adventurous route, rent a bicycle in Ubud. Take the Jl. Raya Ubud towards Jl. Raya Penelokan, which leads you to Kintamani. The ride is uphill and can take 2-3 hours depending on your pace. Make sure to stop along the way to enjoy the stunning views. Once you reach Kintamani, follow the signs to Batur Mountain. You can park your bicycle at the base of the mountain before starting your hike.
