Getting There

• Car Rental

  To reach Puncak Mandala by car, start from the town of Oksibil, which is the capital of Pegunungan Bintang Regency. Rent a car in Oksibil if you haven't already. Head southeast on Jl. Raya Oksibil and continue for about 36 kilometers. The road will take you through beautiful mountainous landscapes. Keep an eye out for signs directing you toward Bakwalim Yub. Once you reach Bakwalim Yub, follow local roads leading to Alemsom. The final stretch requires navigating some unpaved roads, so a 4WD vehicle is recommended. As you approach Puncak Mandala, you might need to park and hike for the last part of your journey, as access roads may not go all the way to the peak.

• Public Transportation (Minibus)

  If you prefer public transport, take a minibus from Oksibil to Bakwalim Yub. The minibus terminal is located near the center of Oksibil. Check local schedules, as they can vary. Once you arrive in Bakwalim Yub, you might need to hire a local motorcycle taxi (ojek) to take you closer to Alemsom. It's advisable to negotiate the fare before starting your journey. Keep in mind that the final distance to Puncak Mandala may require a short hike.

• Hiking

  After reaching Alemsom by car or motorcycle taxi, prepare for a hike to Puncak Mandala. The trailhead is well-marked, but it's recommended to have a local guide if you're unfamiliar with the area. The hike can take around 2-3 hours depending on your pace and the trail condition. Ensure you carry enough water and snacks, as there are no facilities on the way.
