If you are traveling by car, start your journey from Balikpapan city center. Head southeast on Jl. Jend. Sudirman toward Jl. Soekarno-Hatta. Continue on Jl. Soekarno-Hatta and take the ramp to Jl. Balikpapan Handil. Follow Jl. Balikpapan Handil for about 40 km. You will see a sign for Samboja Lestari; the entrance will be on your right at Jl. Balikpapan Handil No.Km. 44, RT. 01, Margomulyo, Kec. Samboja. The total travel time is approximately 1 hour depending on traffic.
Public Transportation
To reach Samboja Lestari via public transportation, start by taking a bus from Balikpapan Bus Terminal to Samboja. Look for the bus heading towards Samarinda, which will stop in Samboja. Upon arrival in Samboja, you can take a local ojek (motorbike taxi) or a shared car to the entrance of Samboja Lestari, which is about 8 km from the bus drop-off point. Ensure you confirm the fare for the ojek or shared car beforehand. The bus fare from Balikpapan to Samboja is around IDR 30,000-50,000.
