Getting There

  • Car

    If you are traveling by car, start your journey from the town of Parapat, which is a popular hub for Lake Toba visitors. Head east on Jalan Jend. Sudirman towards Jalan Sisingamangaraja. Follow the signs for Ajibata, and continue until you reach the intersection where you will turn onto Jalan Silangit. After approximately 12 kilometers, look for signs directing you to Sigapiton. The Kaldera will be situated on your right. Expect the drive to take about 30-40 minutes, depending on traffic.

  • Public Transportation

    For those using public transportation, take a local bus from Parapat to Ajibata. Buses frequently depart from the main bus station in Parapat. The bus ride should take around 30 minutes and costs approximately IDR 10,000. Once in Ajibata, you can either walk or hire a local ojek (motorcycle taxi) to Sigapiton, which is about 5 kilometers away. The ojek ride will cost roughly IDR 20,000-30,000.
