From Manado city center, head to the nearest bus terminal, which is the Terminal Malalayang. Take a bus heading towards Tomohon. The fare is usually around 15,000 IDR. Make sure to inform the driver that you want to get off at the Tomohon bus terminal. The journey takes approximately 45 minutes.

Once you arrive at the Tomohon bus terminal, exit the terminal, and you will find local transportation options like motorbikes or 'ojek' available. You can hire an ojek to take you directly to the base of Mt Lokon. Negotiate the fare (about 30,000 IDR) before starting your trip. The journey will take around 20-30 minutes depending on traffic.

After arriving at the base of Mt Lokon, you will find the entrance to the hiking trail clearly marked. The hike to the crater is quite popular, and it typically takes about 2-3 hours to reach the top. Make sure to wear appropriate hiking gear and carry sufficient water.
