Car
If you are traveling by car, start from your accommodation in Pulau Bunaken. Take a boat from Pulau Bunaken to the mainland, which typically departs from the main harbor. The boat ride will take approximately 30 minutes to reach the port in Bitung. Once you arrive at the port, you can rent a car or take a taxi to Tangkoko Nature Reserve. The reserve is located about 30 kilometers from the port, and the drive should take around 45 minutes. Follow the signs towards Aertembaga and then Kasawari, where the reserve is situated.

Public Transportation
To reach Tangkoko Nature Reserve using public transportation, first, take a boat from Pulau Bunaken to Bitung. After arriving at the Bitung port, look for a local minibus (angkot) heading towards Aertembaga. The fare is usually around 10,000 IDR ($0.70). Ask the driver to drop you off at the nearest stop to Tangkoko Nature Reserve. From there, you may need to walk or negotiate a local ride (like a motorcycle taxi) to reach the reserve entrance, which is about 5 kilometers away. Make sure to confirm the costs beforehand.
