Car
If you are starting from Sorong, the main city in West Papua, take the road towards the harbor. You will drive approximately 20 minutes to reach the Sorong Port (Pelabuhan Sorong). From the port, you can catch a ferry to Waisai, the capital of Raja Ampat. The ferry ride takes around 2 hours and typically costs between IDR 100,000 to IDR 200,000 (approximately $7 to $14 USD). Once you arrive in Waisai, you can take a local boat (speedboat) to Mansuar Island. The boat ride will take about 30 minutes and the cost varies but expect to pay around IDR 300,000 (about $20 USD). Make sure to check the schedules for ferries and boats as they can change.
Public Transportation
From Sorong, you can use local transportation to get to the Sorong Port. Look for angkot (shared minivans) that go to the port area. The fare is usually very cheap, around IDR 10,000 (less than $1 USD). After reaching the port, follow the same ferry and boat instructions as mentioned above. Ensure you have cash on hand as many of the local services do not accept credit cards.
Boat
If you are already in Waisai, you can directly book a speedboat to Mansuar. There are many local operators offering this service. It's advisable to negotiate the price or check with your accommodation in Waisai for recommendations. The journey takes about 30 minutes. Always confirm the return schedule as well, to ensure you can make it back to Waisai.
