Getting There

• Walking

  From the center of Newton, head south on 1st Avenue E toward E 4th Street N. Continue straight until you reach the intersection with E 4th Street N, where you will turn left. Walk along E 4th Street N until you reach the intersection with N 2nd Avenue E. Turn right onto N 2nd Avenue E and continue walking for about 0.5 miles. You will pass by several shops and cafes. After reaching the intersection with E 12th Street N, turn left and continue straight until you reach the intersection with Beacon Street. Turn right onto Beacon Street, and the Gibson House Museum will be on your left at 137 Beacon St.

  If you have access to a bicycle, start from the Newton Public Library located at 1000 Oskaloosa St, Newton. Exit the library and head south on Oskaloosa St. Ride for about 0.3 miles until you reach 1st Avenue E. Turn left and continue riding straight for about 0.5 miles. At E 4th Street N, turn left and keep going until you reach N 2nd Avenue E. Turn right and ride for approximately 0.5 miles. When you reach E 12th Street N, turn left and ride until you reach Beacon Street. Make a right on Beacon Street, and you will find the Gibson House Museum at 137 Beacon St.

  To use public transportation, start at the Newton Transit Center located at 300 W 4th St N. Catch the local bus heading toward Des Moines. Get off at the stop at E 12th Street N and Beacon Street. From there, walk east on E 12th Street N until you reach Beacon Street. Turn left on Beacon Street, and the Gibson House Museum will be on your left at 137 Beacon St.
