Driving
The Motor Mill Historic Site is located approximately 5 miles southeast of Elkader, Iowa. From Elkader, take Highway 13 south and turn east onto Grandview Road (X3C). Follow Grandview Road for about 3.5 miles, then turn left onto Hazel Road and immediately take a hard left onto Galaxy Road. Continue on Galaxy Road for about 1.5 miles to reach the site. Parking is available on-site. Note that portions of the roads leading to the site are gravel.

For those already in the immediate vicinity, such as campers at the Motor Mill campground, the historic site is easily accessible by foot. Follow the marked trails leading from the campground to the mill and other historic buildings. The walk is relatively short and offers scenic views of the Turkey River and surrounding landscape. Be sure to wear appropriate footwear for the gravel and uneven terrain.
