The John Deere Tractor & Engine Museum is located on the west side of the TechWorks Campus in downtown Waterloo. From I-380, take the Westfield Avenue exit and head east. The museum will be on your right. Parking is free and plentiful.
Walking

From downtown Waterloo, the museum is a pleasant walk. Head west on Westfield Avenue. You'll pass the Isle Casino Hotel on your left before arriving at the TechWorks Campus and the museum.

Situated on the original site of the first John Deere tractor factory, the museum offers a unique opportunity to explore the company's rich heritage.Inside, you'll discover a collection of Deere equipment, tracing the company's history from its humble beginnings with a simple steel plow to today's modern working machines. Interactive exhibits allow you to grip the handles of a steel plow and test your strength against real horsepower, providing a hands-on understanding of the challenges faced by early farmers.The museum also showcases rare artifacts from John Deere's past, offering a glimpse into the innovations that have shaped the agricultural landscape. A highlight is the newly renovated Waterloo Works 3-D model, which allows you to explore the John Deere factory campus as it appeared in 1964. The museum is open Tuesday through Saturday from 9 am to 5 pm. It is closed on Sundays, Mondays, and certain holidays.
