From there, it crosses railroad tracks and parallels the Floyd River as it heads southwest through the city. Midway along the trail, it borders the ball fields of Headid Park. The trail has an open feel with little shade, and a portion of it runs adjacent to active railroad tracks. The Floyd River is named for Charles Floyd, a member of the Lewis and Clark Expedition, who died in 1804.
