The centerpiece is a cantilevered dome, 42 meters in diameter, inclined at 12 degrees, representing a traditional Iraqi shield (dira'a) slipping from the grasp of a dying warrior. Beneath the shield, a cube constructed of seven layers of metal symbolizes the seven levels of Jannah (Paradise) in Islam, with red acrylic sheets within representing the blood of the fallen. A spiral tower, reminiscent of the Samarra minaret, stands beside the dome, its exterior clad in copper and its interior adorned with steel and copper pyramidal modules.The monument also houses an underground museum, accessible via a shaft that allows natural light to filter through.
