Car
If driving from Erbil, head southwest on 40th Street (Qasr Street). Follow signs for Shaqlawa, which will lead you onto the Erbil-Shaqlawa road. Continue for about 30 kilometers (40 minutes). Look for signs indicating Mount Korek and turn onto the road leading towards the mountain. The last stretch is a winding road to the base. Parking is available near the cable car station. Driving from Erbil to Korek Mountain Resort takes approximately 1 hour and 19 minutes , and costs $4 - $7.
Public Transport
To reach Mount Korek via public transport, take a shared taxi or minibus from Erbil City to Shaqlawa. These depart from designated taxi stands in the city center. The fare is around 3,000 IQD per person, and the ride takes 30-40 minutes. From Shaqlawa, take a local taxi to Mount Korek's base for about 5,000 IQD. Check return schedules, as they may be infrequent.
Cable Car
Upon reaching the base of Mount Korek, ascend the mountain via cable car. The cable car station is well-signposted. Round-trip tickets cost approximately 15,000 IQD per person. The ride offers stunning views. Check the cable car's operating hours beforehand, as they vary seasonally.
