From Erbil, head northeast on the Erbil-Duhok road (Route 1). After about 60 km, turn left towards the Halgurd Mountain area. Continue for another 20 km to the parking area near the mountain's base. The drive takes approximately 1.5 to 2 hours, but ensure you have enough fuel as gas stations are limited. Parking is available near the base.
Public Transport
From Erbil's main bus station, take a minibus heading towards Duhok. Confirm with the driver that they stop at the Halgurd Mountain area. The fare is around 5,000 IQD. The bus ride takes about 1.5 hours. From the nearest village, hire a local taxi to the mountain's base; negotiate the fare in advance, typically around 10,000 IQD.
