Getting There

    From Dublin city center, make your way to the Busáras bus station. You can reach Busáras by taking the Luas Red Line to the Abbey Street stop and walking 10 minutes. At Busáras, purchase a ticket for the 133 bus service towards Glendalough. The bus ride takes approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes. Get off at the Glendalough Visitor Centre stop.

  • Walking

    From the Glendalough Visitor Centre, head west towards the Glendalough Monastic Site. Follow the signs for the Green Road Trail. After approximately 1 mile, you will reach a fork in the path; take the left path which leads towards the Glenealo Valley. Continue on this path for about 30 minutes until you reach the stunning views of Glenealo Valley.

  • Combination of Walking and Navigation

    If you prefer a more scenic route, after getting off the bus at the Glendalough Visitor Centre, instead of heading directly to the Monastic Site, take the path to the right of the Visitor Centre that leads you along the upper lake. This route takes about 40 minutes. Once you reach the end of the upper lake, follow the signposts leading you to Glenealo Valley, which is approximately another 20-minute walk.
