Knappogue Castle: A Medieval Irish Stronghold

Knappogue Castle, located near Quin in County Clare, is a magnificent example of a 15th-century tower house, offering visitors a unique window into Ireland's past. In the 20th century, American Mark Edwin Andrews purchased the castle and, in collaboration with Shannon Development, restored it to its former glory.Today, Knappogue Castle is a popular tourist attraction, offering guided tours, medieval banquets, and even overnight stays. The castle's walled garden, restored in Victorian style, is a tranquil oasis with climbing roses, grapevines, and fig trees. The medieval banquets, held from April to October, provide a memorable evening of traditional music, song, dance, and food. Visitors can also explore the castle's interior, including the Dalcassian Hall, and learn about its rich history from the Earl's Butler. Knappogue Castle is also known for its premium single malt Irish whiskey, adding another layer to its appeal.
