Getting There

• Car

  If you are driving, start from Killarney, which is a central location in the Ring of Kerry. Head southwest on the N71 road. Continue on the N71 for about 6 kilometers until you reach the junction for the R563. Turn left onto the R563 and follow the signs for Lough Leane. After approximately 2 kilometers, you will see the entrance to Lough Leane on your right. There is parking available nearby.

• Public Transportation

  To reach Lough Leane using public transport, take a bus from Killarney Bus Station. Look for the bus routes heading towards Kenmare or Killorglin, as they often stop near Lough Leane. The journey will take around 15-20 minutes. Make sure to inform the driver or check the bus schedule to ensure you get off at the nearest stop to Lough Leane. From the bus stop, it is a short walk to the lake.

• Walking

  If you are staying in Killarney and prefer to walk, you can take a scenic route. From the town center, head southwest along College Street and continue on the pathway beside the River Deenagh. This will take you through beautiful landscapes towards Lough Leane. The walk is approximately 4 kilometers and will take about an hour, offering lovely views along the way.

• Taxi

  For a more direct route, consider taking a taxi from Killarney. Taxis are readily available in the town center, and the ride to Lough Leane will take approximately 10-15 minutes, depending on traffic. Be sure to agree on a fare beforehand or ensure the meter is running. This option is more convenient if you are traveling with a group or have limited time.
