Walking
From Waterford City Centre, head north on Patrick Street towards the River Suir. Continue walking until you reach the bridge. Cross the bridge and stay on the main road which is the N25. After crossing the bridge, keep walking straight for about 1.5 km. You will see signs for Kilkenny. When you reach the junction, turn left onto the R693. Continue on this road for another 2 km until you see signs for Kilkenny. Follow the signs into Kilkenny City. Once you reach Kilkenny, head towards James's Street. St. Mary's Cathedral is located on James's Street in the Gardens area. The cathedral will be on your right side.

From Waterford City, make your way to the bus station located at 1-2, The Quay. Take the Bus Éireann service heading to Kilkenny; the journey takes approximately 1 hour. Ask the driver to drop you off at the Kilkenny City bus stop. Once you disembark, head towards the main street, and follow the signs to James's Street. Walk straight for about 10 minutes, and you will find St. Mary's Cathedral on your right.
