Car
If you are driving from the Wicklow Mountains, take the N11 road heading north towards Dublin. Continue on the N11 for approximately 30 km until you reach the junction for the M50 motorway. Merge onto the M50 heading north. After about 10 km, take exit 12 for the N4 towards Dublin City Centre. Continue on the N4, which will lead you directly into Dublin. Follow the signs for the city center, and as you get close, look for signs pointing to Dublin Castle. The State Apartments are located on Dame Street, right next to Dublin Castle. There is limited street parking available, but there are also several parking garages nearby.
Public Transportation
To reach the State Apartments at Dublin Castle using public transport, you can take a bus from various locations in the Wicklow Mountains. First, find a local bus service that connects to Dublin Bus routes, such as the 133 or 145, which run to Dublin city center. Once you arrive in Dublin, get off at the stop closest to Dame Street. From there, it's a short walk to Dublin Castle. Alternatively, you can take a train from Wicklow to Dublin Heuston Station, then catch a Luas tram (Red Line) to the Abbey Street stop. From Abbey Street, head south on O'Connell Street and continue onto Dame Street, where you'll find Dublin Castle and the State Apartments.
