Car
If you're traveling by car, start from the town of Bray. Head south on the N11 road towards Wexford. After approximately 10 km, take the exit for the R765 towards Kilmacanogue. Follow the R765 for about 4 km until you reach the junction with the R759. Turn left onto the R759 and continue for about 5 km. Look for signs for the Great Sugar Loaf and park at the designated car park near Glencap Commons Upper. The car park is free of charge.
Public Transportation
To reach Great Sugar Loaf via public transport, take a bus from Dublin to Bray (Bus 145 or 145B). From Bray, catch the 185 bus towards Kilmacanogue. Get off at the stop closest to Glencap Commons Upper. From there, it's a short walk to the base of Great Sugar Loaf. Note that bus schedules may vary, so check local listings for times. The total cost for the bus journey is approximately €10 each way.
Walking
Once you arrive at the car park or bus stop near Glencap Commons Upper, you will need to walk to the trailhead. The start of the trail is well-marked and is located just a few minutes' walk from the parking area. The hike to the summit of Great Sugar Loaf takes about 1 to 1.5 hours, depending on your pace. Ensure you wear appropriate footwear and bring water.
