Getting There

  • Train and Ferry

    If you are starting from any of the Cinque Terre villages (Monterosso, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola, or Riomaggiore), take a train to La Spezia. From La Spezia, head to the ferry terminal (follow signs for 'Porto') and catch a ferry to Porto Venere. The ferry ride takes about 30 minutes. Once you arrive at Porto Venere, follow the signs towards the town center. Doria Castle is located at Via dei Mulini. It's a short, steep walk uphill from the harbor; just follow the signs to the castle.

  • Walking

    If you are already in Porto Venere, you can walk to Doria Castle. Start at the harbor and walk towards the main square, where you will find the Church of St. Peter. From the church, head up Via Giuseppe Garibaldi, then turn left onto Via dei Mulini. Continue straight, and you will see Doria Castle at the top of the hill. The walk is approximately 15-20 minutes and can be steep in parts, so be prepared for some uphill walking.
