Train and Boat
From any of the Cinque Terre towns (Monterosso, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola, or Riomaggiore), take a train to La Spezia. Once you arrive at La Spezia, head to the ferry terminal located near the train station. Purchase a ticket for a ferry to Porto Venere. The ferry ride takes approximately 30 minutes. Upon arriving at Porto Venere, make your way to the main street (Via Garibaldi) and follow the signs toward the harbor. Continue walking along the waterfront until you reach the entrance to the path leading to Grotta di Lord Byron, which is approximately a 15-20 minute walk from the harbor.

Hiking
If you are looking for a more adventurous route, you can hike from Riomaggiore. Start at the Riomaggiore train station and follow the Sentiero Azzurro (Blue Trail) heading towards Manarola. From Manarola, continue following the trail towards Corniglia. After Corniglia, look for a sign indicating the route to Porto Venere. The hike will take around 2-3 hours depending on your pace. Once you arrive in Porto Venere, make your way to the harbor and follow the path leading to Grotta di Lord Byron.

From any of the Cinque Terre towns, take a train to La Spezia and then transfer to a local bus heading to Porto Venere. The bus departs from La Spezia’s bus terminal, which is adjacent to the train station. Once you arrive in Porto Venere, walk toward the harbor area and follow the signs leading to Grotta di Lord Byron. The walk from the bus stop to the grotto will take about 15-20 minutes.
