Getting There

  • Train and Boat

    From any of the Cinque Terre towns (Monterosso, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola, or Riomaggiore), take a train to La Spezia. Once you arrive at La Spezia, head to the ferry terminal located near the train station. Purchase a ticket for a ferry to Porto Venere. The ferry ride takes approximately 30 minutes. Upon arriving at Porto Venere, make your way to the main street (Via Garibaldi) and follow the signs toward the harbor. Continue walking along the waterfront until you reach the entrance to the path leading to Grotta di Lord Byron, which is approximately a 15-20 minute walk from the harbor.

    If you are looking for a more adventurous route, you can hike from Riomaggiore. Start at the Riomaggiore train station and follow the Sentiero Azzurro (Blue Trail) heading towards Manarola.
