Getting There

  • Walking

    If you are starting from the historic center of Florence, head south from Piazza della Signoria towards the Arno River. Cross the Ponte Vecchio and continue along the riverbank. After about 15 minutes of walking, you will reach the end of the river where you will find the entrance to the Giardino di Boboli on your left. Continue walking straight until you reach Via Romana. Turn left onto Via Romana and walk straight for about 10 minutes. You will see Porta Romana ahead on your right, at Piazzale di Porta Romana.

    From Santa Maria Novella train station, exit and find the bus stop for lines 11 or 36, which both travel towards Porta Romana. Board the bus and remain on it for approximately 15 minutes. Get off at the 'Porta Romana' bus stop, which is located right in front of the historical gate. You will see the beautiful Porta Romana structure just a short walk from the bus stop.
